Psalm 26:7 KJV
Do you reverence the name of the Lord?
Phone
Do you reverence the name of the Lord?
This book focuses on Jesus, who He is, and what He’s done for us. But you can’t talk about Jesus, who is The Word, without also talking about the Bible, which is the written word. Our new covenant was ratified by the blood of Jesus, and we access the promises in the covenant by the name of Jesus. All of our power and authority is in His name. So there will be many things discussed in this book that every Christian should know. For example, what is righteousness? Who is the antichrist? What was the reason for the virgin birth? Does predestination really exist? And is witchcraft real? Now what does witchcraft have to do with Christ? The following sample from the book will answer that question.
Chapter 19
Witchcraft
Is magic and witchcraft real? Is there really such a thing as a witch? Absolutely yes! The Bible tells us that witchcraft is real. So if you ever hear a Christian say they don’t believe in witchcraft or magic, you’ll know that that Christian is confused.
Galatians 5:19-21 KJV
V19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
V20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
V21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Verse 20 tells us that witchcraft is real, and verse 21 tells us that it’s evil because those who practice witchcraft will not inherit the kingdom of God. Now, there is such a thing as fake magic, or tricks, such as card tricks. But real magic is called witchcraft. So do witches really have power? And how do they do what they do? Let’s go to the word.
1 Samuel 28:7-8 KJV
V7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
V8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.
Saul is the king of Israel, and he is requesting for his servants to find him a woman who has a familiar spirit. And if you read the entire chapter, you find out that a woman with a familiar spirit is simply a witch. A man with a familiar spirit is typically called a magician, a wizard, or a warlock. And a familiar spirit is a demon. The reason they’re called familiar spirits is exactly as the name implies. They are familiar. Not that the demon is familiar with the witch, but because the witch is familiar with the demon. Demons are evil angels, and all evil angels are devils. You cannot become familiar with an angel of the LORD because His angels will not answer you. You cannot summon an angel of the LORD, nor can you command them to do anything for you. They are faithful to the LORD only. They will only come to you when the LORD sends them, and they will only do what He commands them to do. So again, you can never have an angel of the LORD as your familiar spirit. But demons will come to you anytime you want. So every witch has entered into a covenant with a demon and that demon is available to do their bidding. If they want to put a curse on someone, they’ll command the demon to do it. Witches are just as human as you and I. They have no powers. There are many myths surrounding witches. For example, some believe that witches have wings and they’re able to fly and transform, but they can’t. Many people have seen the familiar spirit, or demon, and thought that they were looking at the actual witch.
So verse 7 tells us the definition of a witch, and verse 8 confirms how witches do what they do. In verse 8, Saul says, “divine unto me by the familiar spirit”. So Saul knew that the woman had no powers. That’s why he said divine unto me by the familiar spirit. Unfortunately, today, we have no knowledge. Our churches don’t teach us what we need to know. So multitudes of Christians don’t know what witchcraft is all about. And if you don’t know what it is, then it’s easy to get involved in it.
Also understand that witchcraft has no power over the obedient child of God. If you are a Christian, then no witch can place a curse on you because you have the blessing of God upon you. However, you have to walk in obedience to qualify for the blessing. You can’t serve evil and expect God to protect you from evil.
Galatians 3:13 KJV
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Again, you’ve been redeemed from the curse and no witch can override the Lord Jesus and place a curse upon you.
This is not a detailed lesson on witchcraft. This is simply an introduction, but it is extremely important because this book is about Jesus. And if you don’t know what a witch is, you just might blaspheme the name of the Lord Jesus.
Matthew 10:6-8 KJV
V6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
V7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
V8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
Repeatedly, Jesus cast out devils. And in this passage, we can see that He also gave His disciples the authority to do it too. In verse 6, He commands them to go. And we can see in verse 8 where He actually gives them the power, which is the authority.
Casting out devils and exorcising devils are two different things. To cast out a devil means that the devil had to leave against its will. To exorcize a devil means that the devil decided to leave voluntarily. People who exorcize demons have no authority over the demon, they simply plead with the demon to leave. It’s also called to adjure the demon. And there are many tactics involved with adjuring, or begging, a demon to come out. For example, one thing they do is to acknowledge and reverence the demon, which is a form of worship. It includes flattery and seeking to know more about the demon. Another tactic is to try to compromise or negotiate with the demon. And a more desperate tactic is to seek the help of a more powerful demon who will command the lesser demon to leave. And all of this involves witchcraft. Therefore, a person who exorcizes demons is a witch.
I heard a preacher say, “Jesus exorcized many demons when He walked the earth”. When that man said that Jesus exorcized demons, that man called Jesus a witch! He blasphemed Christ. This is why it is so important that we teach and why I’m teaching this lesson on witchcraft. Because if you ever say that Jesus exorcized demons, then you are blaspheming the name of the Lord as well.
